You’ll find lush valleys both cool and fragrant, crystal-clear lakes, and sparking rivers - all crowned by the Pale Mountains, or Dolomites, which UNESCO declared a World Natural Heritage Site in 2009. The Dolomites stretch across five different provinces and include well-known mountain ranges such as Sella, Rosengarten and Sciliar.
The true queen of the Dolomites, though, is Marmolada: its Punta Pena Peak towers at an elevation of 3,343 metres. Here, numerous historical hiking paths, via ferrata routes, and climbs afford access to the most beautiful Dolomite peaks.
